It’s been over two weeks now since the brutal beating death of an elderly woman and the family of the woman is looking for the person or persons who committed the crime.
Marie Gage, 82, was beaten to death in southwest Houston in early January.
Police say that Bill Gage, 84, and husband of Marie Gage, heard the family’s dog barking around 8:45 p.m. He then went to let the dog out when a suspect forced his way inside the Gage’s home.
The suspect then pushed Bill Gage to the floor and started kicking him in the head.
Marie Gage tried to intervene and stop the suspect from kicking her husband; that’s when the suspect beat her as well.
Mr. Gage was forced to show the suspect where the valuables were housed in their residence and the suspect escaped with several items, including Marie Gage’s four-carat wedding ring.
Mrs. Gage was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital; she was later pronounced dead. Mr. Gage was treated and released from the medical facility.
Authorities as well as the family of Mrs. Gage are now asking for the public’s help with information leading to the capture and arrest of the suspect.
Police describe the suspect as a tall man with dark complexion. It is believed that the suspect may have followed Mr. and Mrs. Gage home.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS. A reward of up to $10,000 will be given for any information that leads to an arrest. Those stepping forward with information can remain anonymous.
