Nicci Morris — Houston police have reported the end to a standoff with a man who allegedly slashed his 4-year-old child’s throat during what is believed to be some sort of domestic disturbance at an apartment community. Police confirm the man is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot. The child — who is said to be in serious but stable condition — was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital.
After the child was injured, the man led police on a short chase. Police say the man pulled into a townhouse complex in the 7900 block of W. Airport. He then barricaded himself inside an apartment, brandishing a pistol as he made his way from the car into the residence. SWAT officers were called to the scene.
