Upon the rumors of a threat and upon the heels of the most recent school shooting that took place this week in Ohio, administrators at Cypress Creek High School sent communication home with parents and guardians to alert them of a rumored school shooting.
According to reports, the rumor of a school shooting at Cypress Creek High School originated on the social networking site Facebook.
Someone on the site commented on a message written on a restroom wall at the high school, claiming that there would be a shooting at the school on March 1.
According to administrators, the message was vague and did not provide many details; school officials left nothing to chance and alerted parents and guardians of the proposed plan of a shooting at the school.
The school notified the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s security department.
Those students who had heard about the shooting were interviewed; nothing credible or substantial was revealed.
Increased security measures have been implemented on the campus.
