Weekend Storms Pound Houston And Southeast Texas; High Water On Roads

A strong line of storms made their way across Houston and surrounding areas area during the weekend.

The rain moved in Friday night with on and off again showers in many areas. The downpours continued Saturday, but the heavier rain and thunderstorms arrived Sunday. Reports of lightning on Sunday made for dangerous conditions.

Chambers, Polk, Galveston, Liberty, San Jacinto and Trinity Counties were the among some of the areas in southeast Texas that were under a Tornado Watch until 7pm Sunday evening.

The weekend rain did created many high water spots and made driving difficult for some.

High water was reported on Beltway 8 North eastbound at Interstate 45 North as well as on West Loop South at Westpark; one vehicle became stalled as a result of the high water.

Another vehicle stalled on the North Freeway outbound at Tidwell over the weekend.

There were also reports of flooding on the northbound feeder road between Research Forest and Highway 242.

Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and San Jacinto Counties were areas that were under a Flood Advisory Sunday afternoon.
