Carolyn Campbell — Raising a child in today’s world is certainly challenging.

But imagine having to raise a child who also has a mental illness. Coping with the challenges of a mentally ill child can be financially and emotionally draining for a family.

News 92 FM’s Carolyn Campbell spoke with one determined Houston mother who opened up about her struggle to find help for her young son Charles who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

In Part One, Carolyn finds out how painful and scary Charles diagnosis can be for him and his mother. Charles – who is only 9 years old – has tried to hurt himself and his mother. Click below to hear the interview.

More resources and services are certainly needed for families coping with children and teens with mental and emotional illness. But there is hope and help available for families.
