Police are searching for the carjackers who nearly shot a man in front of his 3-year-old son Monday evening. According to reports, police say five suspects carjacked a father at gunpoint at an apartment complex on Town Park. Manuel Martinez was changing a flat tire outside his apartment in southwest Houston when he says he was approached by five men with one of the men pointing a gun at him. The men demanded cash and the keys to his vehicle. Martinez reportedly tried to explain that his young son was in the car. The carjacking suspects reportedly shot at him twice. Martinez was not hit by any of the shots fired by the suspects and he also managed to get his child before the men fled in his vehicle.

As the suspects escaped with Martinez’s car and his cell phone inside the car, he called his cell phone with one of the suspects answering the call. Martinez then demanded that the suspects return his car. The suspects agreed and told him to pick up the car near an apartment complex. Martinez arrived with relatives to retrieve his car from the group of men. Additional reports indicate that police arrested two of the five suspects. Authorities continue to search for the three men who remain on the loose.
