A baby is safe after reportedly being accidentally locked inside his mother’s pick up truck. According to reports, the baby’s mother Claudia Sazopal was driving Monday afternoon near the North Freeway and hit a manhole. She got out of her truck to survey the damage and the doors of the truck locked. Her eight week-old son was inside the truck alone.
A frantic Sazopal received help from a Houston police officer who then punched out the passenger window of the truck and retrieved the baby. He was not harmed or injured as a result of being locked in the car and rescued.
Sazopal and her baby are safe. The tow truck driver that hauled her vehicle away reportedly said her car and others could be damaged from hitting the manhole. Sazopal’s suspension on the truck might be damaged but mother and baby are reportedly safe and sound. There is an orange cone now that covers the manhole. It was placed there in an effort to warn motorists that the hazardous manhole exists.
