While absorbing Brazilian life and culture, Houston Mayor Annise Parker met with the mayor of Sao Paulo in Brazil this week. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss both cities’ economic future.
According to reports, Mayor Parker praised Sao Paulo’s mass transit while Sao Paulo’s Mayor Gilberto Kassab noted the similarities Houston and Sao Paulo share as cities that are major hubs for commerce. The Mayor as well as other officials are in Brazil during the week learning of the culture, economic expansion and vitality of Brazil and Brazilian cities.
Delegation members as well as Mayor Parker reportedly hope that the visit to Brazil will lay a foundation for long-lasting relationships between the two cities ensuring additional jobs and trading can occur in the near future.
