A major political event in Houston Thursday as former President George H.W. Bush formally endorses Mitt Romney for the presidency.
Mr. Bush and Romney will appear together in Houston as the 41st President of the United States makes it clear he wants Romney to be America’s next President.
Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath says “I think its going to help people get over that worry or that wonder that some people have ‘is Mitt Romney the guy?’ the Bushes certainly feel he is.”
McGrath says the time has come for the Republican party to unite behind the most viable candidate “we’ve now had 30, 35 primaries and caucuses and its clear by just the sheer math that no one else can win the nomination.”
The elder Bush has offered encouraging words to Romney throughout the primary season but had withheld a formal endorsement until now. McGrath says Mr. Bush is “like a lot of other republicans and conservatives who think its time to rally around the republican with the best chance to beat Barack Obama.”
The former President will be the second Bush to back Romney former Florida Governor Jeb Bush endorsed him last week.
