Slow moving thunderstorms coupled with heavy rainfall Thursday afternoon will make for a wet commute home for many in the Houston and surrounding areas. According to the National Weather Service, there is nearly 3 inches of rain per hour falling and there is great potential for flash flooding near the Bush Intercontinental Airport to downtown Houston to around Pasadena.
The city of Houston has reportedly received 2.8 inches of rain south of Intercontinental. Several cells of thunderstorms along and east of the Interstate 45 corridor may collide with one another. Forecasters urge motorists to drive with patience during their Thursday evening commutes, allowing extra time for safety, wet roads and flooding in low lying areas.
