The man who allegedly opened fire outside a Beaumont courthouse two weeks ago has been formerly charged with murder. According to reports, an indictment was returned Thursday by a grand jury in Jefferson County charging Bartholomew Granger with three counts of attempted capital murder, four counts of kidnapping and a single count of aggravated assault. Eight of the charges carry maximum sentences of life in prison.
According to authorities, the shooting spree Granger went on occurred while he was on trial for reportedly sexually assaulting his daughter. Granger is accused of killing an elderly woman and wounding three others, including his daughter and and his daughter’s mother. The woman he reportedly fatally shot was identified as 79-year-old Minnie Sebolt of Deweyville. She was described as an innocent bystander at the courthouse.Granger sits behind bars under a $4 million bond.
