Rob Carr/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Even though Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed is still one of the premier safeties in the NFL today, at 33-years old, his future has been in doubt recently. Despite rumblings of retirement, Reed confirmed that he will return for the 2012 season.

Despite playing in all 16 games in 2011, Reed has struggled with injuries, missing ten total games during the 2009-2010 seasons with various injuries. He has spent his entire 10-year career with the Ravens and has no plans to walk away from football anytime soon.

“There’s a lot of talk out there. I’m not going to say I’m 50-50, because I’m not,” Reed told the Sun-Sentinel. “I want to play football. But it’s something me and my team have been discussing the past couple weeks.”

“If it was up to me, I’d be with a walking cane out there. I don’t know, man. I think four to five years is a reality for me.”

Reed has 57 career interceptions, which is tied for 11th all-time. He needs just six more interceptions to move into a tie for sixth all-time.
