Houston Astros Fall To Colorado Rockies In Season Opener

During the Houston Astros season opener Friday, The Astros fell to the Colorado Rockies in a reported sellout crowd of 43,464 at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

Eric Young scored the go-ahead run on an error in the eighth inning while Troy Tulowitzki homered in the ninth which pivoted the Colorado Rockies against the Houston Astros. Young stole second base and scored on an error by catcher Jason Castro; the error made by Young was one of four miscues by the Houston Astros on Friday night.

The Rockies took the lead in the third inning with three unearned runs. During Houston left-hander Wandy Rodriguez’ first career opening-day, Rodriguez started and allowed three unearned runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Carlos Lee and Brian Bogusevic hit back-to-back homers for the Astros and Lee put the Astros put Houston up 1-0 with a two-out RBI single off Jeremy Guthrie (1-0) well within the first inning.

In the end it was the Colorado Rockies who captured the win against the Houston Astros. The final score was Rockies 5, Astros 3
