It was just a little over two weeks ago that a suspected drunk driver rammed into the back of a horse-drawn carriage in Galveston killing one man and injuring four others.

The carriage was headed toward Galveston Island’s Seawall when police say 21-year old Michael Shane Grayson, slammed into the carriage with his car.

Witnesses say the horse carriage actually rolled over three times and ended up sitting on top of the car that struck it.

One man in the carriage died at the scene. Among the severely injured was the carriage driver 26-year-old Joe Hodsdon. He suffered a broken neck and psychological trauma.

He has mounting medical bills and no insurance. So his mother has set up a benefit fund in an effort to help her son.

The mom Crystal Hobbs joins us live at 4:30 p.m. on News 92 FM to speak with our Mike Barajas.

You can get donate to the Joe Hodsdon benefit fund at Texas First Bank 2401 Broadway in Galveston. You can also get updates through Facebook.  Go to
