Jack Clynton Hollis was taken into custody Tuesday evening after his niece was pronounced dead upon arrival to Liberty-Dayton Regional Hospital.
Hollis an 18-year-old teen from Dayton, was reportedly baby-sitting his two young nieces when the death of the 18-month-old niece occurred. The other niece in Hollis’ care was not harmed; she is three years old.
According to a sworn affidavit, Hollis dropped the baby on her head twice. After dropping the child on her head the first time he saw that the child turned blue and for an unknown reason dropped the toddler on her head a second time.
Hollis who has been charged with injury to a child could have charges upgraded against him to more serious ones once the autopsy on the baby is complete. Liberty County Sheriff’s officials continue to investigate the case.
