Hundreds gathered in Houston Saturday for the 44th Annual Fiestas Patrias celebration.
The parade began at 10 a.m. Saturday with hundreds of people lining the streets to watch the colorful event.
According to event organizers, Fiestas Patrias celebrates the exciting sights and sounds of the Hispanic culture and heritage.
Fiestas Patrias commemorates eight Spanish-speaking countries that celebrate their independence in September. Those countries include: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Belize, and Chile.
Saturday’s parade in Houston featured, authentic Hispanic dancing and singing, purebred Aztec horses, roper twirling charros and a wealth of other fun and festive events.
