Plenty Of Weekend Events For Holiday, Wine, Art and Food Lovers

Gird your loins and dive into the glory that is the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker Market, all weekend at Reliant Center. Tickets are available at Randall’s, at the door for a dollar more, or buy a four-day pass to non-stop shop.


The 2012 Houston Cinema Arts Festival is in full swing and runs through Sunday with films, events and art installations. One highlight, “A conversation with Robert Redford,” is at 7 p.m. Friday evening at Sundance Cinemas Downtown on Texas Avenue. Check for more.


Friday, 8 p.m. at Jones Hall, it’s good vs. evil. An evening with chefs Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert sharing stories and giving insight into what really goes on behind kitchen doors, presented by the Society for the Performing Arts. Check out for a full schedule of their offerings.


Saturday from 1 ’til 5, sip and stroll on the Kemah Boardwalk and celebrate international wines. Sample 60 wines from 20 wineries from Australia, Italy, Spain and the U.S. there’ll be bread and cheese and live music, too.


The Aeros are at Toyota Center, hosting Toronto tonight and Lake Erie Friday. The puck drops at 7:05 both evenings. And the Dynamo continue their march to a championship Sunday at 2:30 at BBVA compass stadium.


Saturday in Winnie, Nutty Jerry’s gives you a walloping night of music from Los Lonely Boys and Delbert McClinton, but get a room, because you are going to be plumb worn out when that night is done.
