Family Patriarch Gunned Down in NW Houston; Reward Offered for Suspects

Investigators need help identifying suspects who shot and killed an elderly man who was walking in his northwest Houston neighborhood.

Harris County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call in the 11000 block of Springsong Dr., on November 7, at approximately 6 p.m. Upon arrival, they found 74-year-old Maglorio Reynaldo Cortes unresponsive in the roadway.

Deputies say neighbors heard gunshots and observed a 2010 or 2011 dark red or maroon colored 4-door Chevy Cruz with factory-tinted windows and wheels leaving the scene. Eyewitnesses said they say several light-skinned, Hispanic or white males inside the car.

Cortes was transported to Cy-Fair Hospital, where he died from a gunshot wound.

He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, six children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
