Intoxication manslaughter charges are pending against a man involved in a fatal accident this morning on FM 1960.
Houston police officials say Asif Aejaz was driving at a high rate of speed on the road that loops around Willowbrook Mall. He then lost control of his car, and it went off the roadway and struck a fence with concrete pillars.
The front seat passenger in Aejaz’s car was pronounced dead at the scene. The backseat passenger was taken to northwest Memorial Hermann for treatment of minor injuries.
Aejaz was not injured.
News 92 FM has learned Aejaz, now charged with intoxicated manslaughter,r has had previous run-ins with the law, including a sexual assault charge.
The sexual assault charge stemming from a incident on October 15 when 41-year-old Aejaz was accused of date raping a woman he was having drinks with at the Baker Street Pub near Willowbrook Mall.
It’s the same pub Aejaz was drinking at the night of this latest incident early this morning.
Investigators say Aejaz admitted to having a few drinks at the pub just before he was involved in the one car accident that killed a man and injured another. Both were passengers in his car.
Police also say he refused to take the field sobriety test.
News 92 FM has also learned that the pub in question has had a long history of over serving their customers, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage commission or TBC.
