J.J. Watt reacted to what Patriots coach Bill Belichick said two days ago, calling him “the most disruptive player in the league.”

“It’s a compliment, and I appreciate the compliment,” Watt said. “That’s my job, that’s what they pay me to do, to be disruptive and to try to be the best in the league.

“I’ve always said all along if your goal is not to be the greatest, your kind of wasting your time.”

Brady Appreciative for Monday Night

Tonight is another made for TV special, Broncos and Raiders. Monday night, you know who’s playing. Tom Brady sure does

“I always enjoy playing Monday night games and Sunday night games, and opening up on Thursday night,” the Patriots quarterback said. “Those are fun moments, and as your career goes on, you realize the opportunities are fewer and fewer.

“I mean, you appreciate them and you relish the opportunity to go out with your teammates and accomplish something.”

Sumlin on Johnny Football

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin was in Houston last night recruting and also going to the Lombardi Awards. This weekend, its New York and the Heisman show for his quarterback, Johnny Manziel.

“It’s a big deal for our university, big deal for our football program,” Sumlin said. “But more than that, I think it recognized the accomplishments of a team that played very well this year and a player that was really really outstanding for a complete year.”

Astros Fill Their Roster

Astros took a pitcher as their first pick in today’s Rule 5 draft. The rule is you take a player or players, and they have to stick with your club for one year.

Josh Fields, right hander, was taken first out of the Red Sox system. Then, first baseman Nate Freiman, who played for AA San Antonio last year, said to be a pretty good power hitter that stands 6-7.

The Astros also re-claimed pitcher Mickey Storey off waivers from the Yankees. So the 40-man roster is at 40 men.

Sampson: ‘Spurs System is Great’

Rockets and Spurs in San Antonio tomorrow night. Kelvin Sampson knows what is obvious. He says the Spurs system is great and because their players are coaching each other, they expect to win.

“They have probably the best system in the NBA because they have the players who have been there the longest,” Sampson said.
