Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel made history Saturday night by becoming the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, honoring college football’s best and brightest.
Manziel, 20, edges out Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein, 23, and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o.
Johnny Football’s stellar premiere as a freshman includes completing 273 of 400 passes for 3,419 yards and leading Texas A&M to a 10-2 record in its first year in the SEC.
A three-touchdown lead in the first quarter of the TAMU-Alabama game put Manziel on the map. The Aggies beat Alabama in that game, 29-24.
