Psychologist Gives Tips To Help Your Children Cope With Tragedy

It’s a conversation we never thought we’d be having with our children, but because of tragic events like the elementary school shooting in Connecticut, we will have to sit down with our kids and explain what happened.

The hardest question to answer is why?

We get some tips from child psychology expert Dr. Alice Mao.

Dr. Mao says it’s important to reassure your children that they are safe and will be safe. She says that parents should keep an eye on any irregular emotional behavior like anxiety, tearfulness and nightmares.

But most of all she says send your kids to school on Monday with no fear.
