A Houston man has received a sentence of nearly five years behind bars for moving stolen vehicles across state lines. We get more on the story from NEWS 92 FM’s Martha Martinez:
A federal judge in Lake Charles, La., has sentenced Luis B. Calixto, Sr., to 57 months in prison and ordered him to pay almost $310,000 in restitution for his part in a theft ring moving stolen vehicles from Texas and Louisiana to his home in Houston.
Prosecutors say sixty all-terrain and other outdoor vehicles valued at about $363,000 were involved. Two co-defendants, both from Kinder, La., were charged last year with conspiracy to transport motor vehicles.
They have already pleaded guilty and been sentenced for their parts in the crime.
