Dining Out Can Derail Weight-Loss Resolutions

If losing weight is one of your new year’s goals, one area to be careful of is eating in restaurants. The story from News 92 FM’s JP Pritchard:

Here’s a fact to put on your plate and consider. Experts say you can gain up to 24 pounds a year by dining out four to five times a week. But registered dietitian Carol Wolin-Riklin at the UT Health Science Center-Houston says there are ways to compensate for that if you go to restaurants a lot as part of your job.

Wolin-Riklin says most restaurants will try to accommodate your needs.

Wolin-Riklin suggests Americans would be better off if they stop rating restaurant values by portion size. She adds many chain restaurants now post calorie counts for nearly every item on their menus, so it’s really just a matter of doing a little research before you choose a restaurant to visit.
