While Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner endures a nightmare of bad publicity, you might be wondering which air carriers make their fliers happiest?
Kevin Hyatt at the Flight Safety Foundation says part of the bad buzz is because of the newness of the plane.
There’s “a lot of interest is focused on it, and therefore we’re seeing more reporting on this aircraft than we actually did on others,” Hyatt says.
And so, carriers who fly the new Dreamliner are losing sleep as it continues to shake out the wrinkles: Japan Airlines, and United Airlines are taking it on the chin in customer satisfaction surveys.
The YouGov.com Brand Index survey ranks carriers on the question, “Are you a satisfied customer,” based on yesses and no’s received.
Southwest Airlines and United are ranked in the top five for Leisure Travel, but only Southwest shows up in the pecking order for business fliers.
YouGov.com notes as a sign of weakness in the American aviation industry that for business travelers, only the top airline, Alaska Air, had a satisfaction rate above 50 percent.
