Air China will soon begin flying from Houston and Beijing. NEWS 92 FM’s Mike Barajas reports it will be Houston’s first non-stop flights to mainland China.
Houston is the fourth U.S. city to get non-stop service to Beijing on Air China, the flag carrier of the People’s Republic.
Mayor Annise Parker says Houston is honored to be the newest global gateway for Air China as our international growth depends on strong relationships worldwide.
Air China’s Zhihang Chi says this type of flight usually yields a tremendous economic impact.
“$632 million per year and supports directly and indirectly more than 3,000 jobs,” he says.
The new direct route to Beijing is scheduled to begin in July.
