(CORAL GABLES, Fla.) — Miami guard Durand Scott scored a season-high 25 points, as the 25th ranked Hurricanes destroyed top-ranked Duke, 90-63.

The loss was the third worst ever for a No. 1-ranked team and it was Duke’s second straight loss to Miami.

“We played a complete game,” Miami head coach Jim Larranaga said. “We did everything we planned on doing and we did it to the highest level. We played very well. They didn’t have a great game. The result is the score.”

Miami (14-3, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) held Duke without a field-goal for over eight minutes in the first half, racing to a 42-19 halftime lead.

Duke (16-2, 3-2), who just regained the No. 1 ranking this week, shot under 30 percent from the floor and hit only 4 of 23 from the 3-point line.

Rasheed Sulaimon led the Blue Devils with 16 points.

It was the first time Miami has beaten a No. 1 ranked team in its history.
