The skies over East Texas were lit up early Tuesday morning when a petroleum facility blew up. ABC News’ Jim Ryan has more from Dallas.
The early indication is that a man and a woman who work at a petroleum storage site were on top of an oil tank and when one of them lit a cigarette, it exploded.
Two large tanks are now burning and firefighters have sprayed foam on three others. Both victims have been flown by air ambulance 75 miles west to the burn unit at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
The woman is said to be on life support. The man has extensive burns to his upper body.
