Shots ringing out in the woods may be unnerving, but explosions are a whole different story. News 92 FM’s Pattie Shieh has more on what’s going on in Montgomery County:
In a wooded area between Roman Forest and Patton Village, explosions rattle windows and nerves. This isn’t the first time. Similar blasts have been reported recently. But Roman Forest Police, Tatton Village Police and the New Caney Fire Department couldn’t find any sign of who was behind the explosions, even while using thermal imaging cameras.
The land in question was developed years ago but the roads are not paved. People have been known to fire off weapons on that property, sometimes with bullets landing in unsafe places.
Some believe the explosions could involve target practice using a substance known as tannerite. The bottom line is whomever is behind it does not have permission to be on that land. In Montgomery County, it’s illegal to fire guns for target practice on individual pieces of land less than 10 acres.
