A bi-partisan group of House members unveils legislation to strengthen federal penalties for gun trafficking and so-called straw purchases of guns.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y.,says the bill will make it easier for law enforcement to prosecute those who buy guns for criminal use.
Maloney adds this bi-partisan bill is the first in history to combat gun trafficking.
“For too long we have been handcuffing the wrong people,” she said. “We’ve made it very difficult for law enforcement to stop the flow of guns to criminals.”
