The Houston Symphony is celebrating it’s 100th season.
A party Wednesday night kicked off the centennial season, which featured live performances by the symphony’s brass section and a champagne reception. Symphony CEO Mark Hanson says there are a lot of exciting events in store for the new season.
In July, the symphony will hold its first annual “Day of Music,” featuring 12 hours of musical talent from across the city.
The Houston Symphony also debuted its new logo.
Their new music director, Colombian-born Andres Orozco-Estrada, will begin working with the symphony this season, with his five-year contract beginning officially in 2014. He replaces Hans Graf, who will leave after 12 years as music director.
