North Forest ISD superintendent, along with elected officials, board members and parents held an emergency townhall meeting over the weekend in an effort to save the district from being absorbed by Houston ISD as recommended by the state. NEWS 92 FM’s Trey Westerburg was there.
Attorney Chris Tritico reminded supporters that the Texas Education Agency’s announcement they plan to close North Forest ISD is nothing more than a recommendation.
At an emotional town hall meeting Saturday at Shadydale Elementary School, Tritico recalled a hearing before the agency last year, and says the education commissioner did not stay true to his word.
The district will be subject to a record of review. If they do not pass they will bring the case to the Texas Department of Justice.
