A Pasadena woman is behind bars, accused of trying to smuggle a baby into this country from Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border protection officers arrested the 30-year-old at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge in McAllen as she walked over on the bridge’s pedestrian lanes. She told CBP officers that the four-month-old was her son and showed an American birth certificate, but investigators learned the baby was actually a Mexican national.
The infant was returned to his mother in Mexico. The woman faces human smuggling charges.
