If you have some unpaid traffic tickets and there is a warrant out for your arrest, you could soon find yourself behind bars. We get details from News 92 FM’s Mike Barajas:
Now here is a bit of good news: there is currently an amnesty period for you to voluntarily pay off your tickets at a reduced cost. But amnesty ends Saturday.
Local law enforcement is gearing up for the annual Great Texas Warrant Round-Up.
“I think last year over 5-thousand people were arrested. they just didn’t heed the warning for whatever reason,” said Houston Municipal Courts spokeswoman Gwendolyn Goins. She added that police have compiled a list of people with outstanding warrants. If your name is on it, there is a good chance you will wind up behind bars.
“They know who these folks are and they are using technology to make sure they find them and when they go out that they don’t come back empty handed.”
If you voluntarily show up at court to pay your fines you will not be arrested. Those who don’t risk being hauled off to jail. The warrant round-up begins March 2.
