An Ohio bartender is fired for something she did to a customer.
“I stand by what I did and I would do it again,” bartender Twyla Deviot said. What she did was call the police on a drunk patron.
Deviot says she feared he would get into a car crash. Her boss at the American Legion post in Shelby, Ohio said she did the right thing but fired her anyway.
“He said I’m going to have to fire you because it’s bad for business to have a bartender that will call the cops,” Deviot said.
The man’s blood alcohol was more than twice the legal limit.
“I’m not very pleased by that,” said police chief Charlie Roub on the firing. “I mean here we have a person that’s trying to do something right and ends up getting punished for it.”
The boss stands by his decision.
