A new form of pot is popping up in some Texas schools, alarming parents and police. News 92 FM’s Martha Martinez reports:
Weed candy. Yes, candy heavily-infused with marijuana is reported to be showing up in some Texas schools. Police say the pot is finely ground, then mixed with vegetable oil, corn syrup and sugar, and popped out of molds, often in the shape of skulls.
Kids are reportedly buying the candies for anywhere from a dollar to five dollars a pop. Investigators say the candy is easy to hide from teachers and parents, because there is no odor and the kids can sit in class with the candy in their mouths and be high by the time the bell rings.
Officers say one big concern is that there is no way to judge how potent the candy is or what else besides pot it might contain, making its consumption a big gamble.
