Sports Update: Aaron Brooks Returns to Rockets Wednesday [Listen]

The Rockets will hit the floor tomorrow night with a familiar face in the team: point guard Aaron Brooks. The Rockets picking up Brooks to back up Jeremy Lin. NEWS 92 FM’s Jorge Vargas has this and more in your morning Sports Update:


Aaron Brooks started his career in Houston. He was a first round pick in 2007 out of Oregon. In his second year, he averaged just under 20 points a game as a Rocket. He should add some spark to this offense off the bench.

He’ll get a practice in today with the team as they prepare to face the Mavericks in Dallas tomorrow night.

Flacco’s Big Pay Day Arrives

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco got paid. He signed a six-year, $120.6 million contract making him the highest paid player in the NFL. Flacco says that is respect.

“You know what the value out there and the market price for quarterbacks out there is,” Flacco said. “What we’ve done here in the last five years warrants the respect I’ve guess I’ve gotten over this contract, and I think that’s what it’s about.”

Dynamo Hosts Santos Laguna Tonight

The Dynamo won their season opener Saturday night. Tonight they host Santos Laguna in Champions League quarterfinals. Warren Creavalle helped set up a big goal Saturday. Now he’s looking forward, but what about Santos?

“Honestly, I don’t know too much about the team, but I know we’ve got a strong side here, so we’ll be prepared for it on Tuesday,” Creavalle said.

Astros Fall to Tigers, 8-5

The Astros lost to the Tigers, 8-5. The Astros are now 5-3-2. They play the Nationals today.
