The last cardinal who will participate in the conclave to elect the next pope has now arrived in Rome. That means a date can now be set for the election. But as News 92 FM’s Mike Barajas reports it is not yet clear when that decision will come.
Cardinal Daniel DiNardo who leads the archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is at the Vatican ready to cast his ballot. Father Sean Horrigan spokesman for the archdiocese says when the cardinals are eventually sequestered in the sistine chapel to make their monumental decision, Cardinal DiNardo will ask the lord for guidance in making the right choice.
“He will be praying he will be listening for the voice of the lord and he will have a vote in electing the next pope,” one source said.
Once a decision has been reached, the ballots of the final round are burned with chemicals producing white smoke to signal to the world the election of a new pope.
