Burning Stuff With a Giant TV Screen

Science class was pretty fun sometimes, no?  Sure, some days were filled with endless rote formulas and periodic elements, but all of that seemed to be okay when the really cool experiments began that, much of the time, seemed like something out of a sci-fi movie.  Now, I know science wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but thanks to those who stuck with it, we’ve got this really impressive Video of the Day to share with you.

Grant Thompson stumbled across an old giant television set that someone had placed out as trash.  Instead of doing what most of us would do, which is just keep on walking, Grant decided to take the TV with the purpose of turning the screen into his own personal science experiment.   Once he had the TV, he removed the giant screen, turning it into one of the bigger and more powerful magnifying lenses you’ll see almost anywhere.  This thing creates temperatures of more than 2000 degrees and has the power to literally melt metal, instantaneously boil liquids, and give an entire ant mound a very, very bad day.

Check out the ultimate lens burning experiment with these incredible results.  Just remember, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
