Investigators are looking into whether a pursuit and shoot-out in North Texas is connected to the murder of Colorado’s corrections director. The suspect was driving a vehicle with Colorado plates that matched a witness description. However, the suspect, Evan Spencer Ebel, 28, is brain dead after being shot by police.
The man’s vehicle was broad-sided by a tractor trailer but the shootout didn’t stop.
“Once the suspect was struck by the 18-wheeler, he exited the vehicle with a firearm, and engaged our deputies in a firefight,” Wise County Sheriff David Walker said.
Ebel was identified as a Colorado parolee by the Associated Press.
