News 92 FM has learned a former Houston police officer is accused of a drunk driving accident that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages to a lighting store.

Harris county sheriff’s deputies arrested 59-year old Harold Clayton, junior last night after he crashed into the lighting gallery business on FM 1960 Thursday night.

According to court records, this is Clayton’s third DWI charge. Clayton retired as a Houston police officer in 2009 after serving 27 years on the force.

The family owned lighting gallery is closed for clean up.  One of the owners, Ann Morgan, says nearly a third of the store’s showroom was destroyed.

Morgan is especially disappointed to learn clayton is a former cop.

Clayton was charged with DWI and failure to stop and give information.
