Anthony Stiger and Melanie Costantini, both 20, were silent during a brief court appearance in a Las Vegas court room in which their attorney entered not guilty pleas to charges of murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder. The two former Katy Seven Lakes High School students are accused of killing their 58-year-old landlord.

Prosecutors say the couple murdered Harold Myles Shilberg with a saw. Shilberg’s body was found in a box November 9, 2011 outside an apartment building where the couple lived.

Police says the body was wrapped in sheets and stuffed into a U-Haul box. They also says a bloody saw and bloody clothing was found inside the couple’s apartment. A U-Haul truck was found abandoned nearby with its headlights on and motor running. Prosecutors also claim to have video of the couple buying a box that is similar to the one used during the murder.

Stiger and Costantini were found in Los Angeles and extradited back to Las Vegas to face charges.

The couple has told acquaintances that they are married. They have a two year old child.

The judge denied bond. The next court appearance is scheduled for December 19th.
