Crime Stoppers and Stop Houston Gangs are teaming up to fight crime in Houston.
The two organizations will use digital billboards, share website information and much more.
Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, have identified more than 20,000 gang members belonging to more than 300 known gangs in the Houston area.
FBI agent Stephen Morris says, “On any given day, anyone of them can be public enemy number one sorta speak.”
U.S. attorney Kenneth Magidson says the new website tools will help battle a much bigger problem. “Because it affects not only the Houston metropolitan area, but the entire area of South Texas.”
Houston police chief Dale Brown says the Stop Houston Gangs website works.
“Fifty-two fugitives have gone up on that billboard, 35 have been arrested to date.”
