Houston police are investigating after one of their officers shot a suspected carjacker. Police chased the stolen car beginning at south Houston high school and ended on parakeet where the carjacker was shot.
There’s an investigation underway in the city of south Houston right now, after a suspect was shot by an officer. News 92 FM’s Danny Mata is speaking to witnesses now.
Around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, a sheriff’s narcotics officer and a south Houston police officer were reportedly conducting surveillance when they saw a man break into a Chevrolet truck in the parking lot of South Houston High School. They left the surveillance operation and chased the suspect in the stolen vehicle.
The suspect hit a curb in the 2100 block of Parakeet Road in Houston and bailed from the truck. The officers say the alleged thief then turned toward the officers holding a metallic object. Fearing that he might have a serious weapon, the narcotics officer fired his gun at the suspect and struck him in the buttocks. The man was transported to a hospital . He will face criminal charges.
