Texas Governor Rick Perry didn’t say “drill baby drill,” but he did make it clear that Texas needs to pump more black gold from the Gulf of Mexico.
The governor also says off shore oil drilling is back and better than before.
Perry touted the oil and gas industries when he spoke at the Offshore Technology Company.
“You’re working towards the day when our nation can reach true energy independence,” Perry said. “End our crippling dependence upon foreign regimes.”
But Perry says the Obama administration isn’t helping.
“I think everyone has suffered from the seemingly endless wait necessary to get a permit these days,” Perry added. “Only 15 percent of the U.S. territory waters are available for development. Despite repeated requests from our friends along the Atlantic Coast and from Alaska.”
Perry says states need to be given the freedom to expand exploration and develop resources already in hand.
