League City will have free legal help if it’s sued over opening council meetings with a prayer.
The city has received an official complaint from the Freedom From Religion Foundation over it’s practice of starting city meetings with a prayer. But if the foundation follows up with a lawsuit, the Galveston County Daily News reports that the non-profit Liberty Institute will defend the city free of charge.
A representative of the institute spoke at Tuesday’s city council meeting and told city leaders that the non-profit law firm, which focuses on religious issues, will handle the case.
