Most Texas students head back to school on Monday, and travel groups are sending an urgent reminder to drivers. News 92 FM’s Alicia Alaniz with more.
“Drive Friendly. Drive Safe” that’s the message from the Texas Department of Transportation to reduce crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists.
TXDOT says more than 5,000 pedestrians were struck on Texas roads last year. Out of those hit, nearly 3,000 suffered serious injuries… 481 were fatal.
AAA Texas reports more than one-fourth of child pedestrian fatalities happen between 3pm and 7….those are after-school hours. So please remember, drive friendly. Drive safe…Alicia Alaniz News 92 FM.
