As the wildfire continues to burn in California, thousands of homes and businesses remain in danger, not to mention the hundreds of square miles of nature and wildlife in its blazing path.  And while a fire of any magnitude is nothing to laugh at, a recent video taken by officials with Yosemite National Park shows the terrifying blaze from an eerily beautiful perspective.

Captured from multiple angles, the video shows a trail of smoke and orange sky as the fire grows and grows as far as the eye can see.  Yet amid all of the destruction, many who have watched this video have found a strange beauty to it.

The California blaze has roared its way into the record books, becoming the 5th-largest wildfire in state history, scorching more than 200,000 acres, costing the state more than $39 million, and threatening more than 5000 structures.

See the blaze grow and spread, not only on the ground, but in the skies above in today’s creepily beautiful time-lapse video of the day.
