Four boys who attend Lamar High School came out and were here for a very short time, just long enough to pray separately and then as a group around the flagpole in front of the school.
One senior says god willing the tradition will continue.
“I’ve tried to do this every year and take other students with me. This year we are doing it and I’ve taken my little brother too.”
Some students were sitting along side the flagpole and were courteous as the 4 boys prayed.
As for some people who say this is unconstitutional because it’s held on public grounds one student says it’s like wearing a rosary in public.
“We’re proclaiming our faith, not beating anyone over the head with a bible.”
The courts say it is legal because the students led the event.
