(HOUSTON, TX)– Three more big bites are taken out of the Astrodome.
Since the late eighties, they’ve been part of a legendary landscape. The dome’s three circular ramps were added to accommodate the extra crowds that came with the addition of ten thousand seats and luxury suites.
They also helped bring the dome into compliance with the Americans with disabilities Act. This morning, the three ramp towers are piles of rubble, reduced in just seconds by expertly placed explosives. Last month, voters rejected a 217 million dollar bond to save the Eighth Wonder of the World. Now, its future seems as hazy as the clouds of dust raised by Sunday night’s demolition.
